When it comes to laundry, especially in Jennie Murphree, where there are 700 residents and only eight washers and three dryers, it’s every girl for herself.

I’ve lived in two residence halls, Gilchrist and Jennie Murphree, and the game of trying to find out when was the best time to do laundry was never-ending. Early morning, late at night, middle of the afternoon, weekdays, weekends—I tried them all.
Each time I thought, “No one does laundry at this time!” the laundry room would be at capacity. As a summer C freshman, I scheduled myself to do laundry on Thursdays and Sundays, and apparently so did hundreds of others, because laundry facilities in my building were rarely empty. What they are full of, besides people, is irritating habits: unwelcome leftovers, six loads of wet clothes and no available dryers.
The most common annoyance is when laundry is dumped into machines and then left there for hours on end, taking the machines away from others who want to use them. I learned very quickly to always check and make sure the washer you’re trying to reserve is empty before you pay for it. Otherwise you’re faced with the choice of either losing your money or removing the long-forgotten clothes that were probably dry by then.
There is always the option of just coming back later. But, unfortunately college students procrastinate, and because of the cost of laundry and the amount of time it eats up, most students probably wait to do it until finally they reach into their underwear drawers and feel bare bottoms. Sometimes laundry can’t wait and the leftover clothes have got to go. And if they’re soaking wet, the owner will definitely be glaring daggers upon their return. (Well, what did they expect us to do, dry their clothes for them?) If it’s the dryer that’s taken, moochers are even more likely to find their laundry relocated since clothes don’t do well if they stay wet for a long time.
When it comes to laundry, especially in Jennie Murphree, where there are 700 residents and only eight washers and three dryers, it’s every girl for herself.
Another thing I’ve noticed is that some people have mountains of clothing. This must come from living in an all-girl’s dorm, because I don’t remember ever walking into the facilities at Gilchrist and seeing all of the machines being monopolized by one person. There’s almost always more than one large pile of clothing lying around on one of the counters, and I can count on one hand the number of times where there wasn’t at least two or three machines taken.
I never know what I’m going to find on laundry day. I’ve given up trying to figure out when’s the best time to go, but as soon as I can get all of my loads into the machines, I sit down and start my homework—because I’d rather not find my soaking wet clothes on the dusty floor of a much-used laundry room.

Period panties just got a whole lot prettier.
(And don’t act like you don’t know what we’re talking about—we know you’ve got some scary stain-worthy pairs reserved for your little friend just like the rest of us.)
Thinx, a new line of women’s underwear that’s specially made to deal with leaks and pads when you’re on the rag, is coming to a retailer near you in May. And the best part? These undies are bloody cute.
They come from a trio of New York based entrepreneurs—identical twin sisters Miki and Radha Agrawal and their friend Antonia Dunbar—and represent three years of brainstorming, research, design and fund-raising efforts (including ,000 from a Kickstarter campaign). The result is a line of lingerie that’s leak and stain-resistant, anti-microbial, moisture wicking and durable. It’s all meant to provide some trusted backup to your sometimes less-than-perfect tampons—and there’s also plenty of material in the crotch for a pad if that’s how you roll.
The premiere collection of four styles pretty much has something for everyone: Hiphugger (hipsters, ); Cheeky (showing some skin, ); Shapewear Comfy (Spanx-like, with mini-heating-pad inserts for cramps, ); and Limited Edition by NAVEN (lacy, from L.A. designers, ).

Just this week, Thinx won a product-pitch contest in Boston, with a prize of having the panties sold through online retailer Daily Grommet and promoted on Indiegogo.
The underwear was created thanks to a familiar "oops" moment.
“It all began while wearing a white skirt to a meeting. Let’s just say I had to go home and change my clothes,” explains Rahda, the founder of children’s media company Super Sprowtz, in the company’s Kickstarter video. “I thought to myself, I can’t believe they don’t make underwear that’s not leak and stain resistant. And wouldn’t it be great if they did?”
She and Antonia and Miki—a marketing exec and the founder of farm-to-table pizza franchise Slice Perfect, respectively—brainstormed the idea further while away together at a wedding in India. When they got home, they did some research into the lingerie market. That proved there was a niche waiting to be filled, as all the panties they perused were either too skimpy or too grandmotherly be acceptable for anyone’s time of the month.
“So we put our heads together and decided it was time for a more thoughtful pair of underwear. A pair that thought of us and acted as backup even when we weren’t thinking. We’re calling it Thinx.”
And that, we thinks, is one pair of undies we can really get with.

The grammer in this article is so low class it’s insulting to women and totally pathetic. Yahoo has been censoring comments and yet allows this kind of nonsensical trash to be published.

I don’t care if this is a ‘girl’ writing this article, to use the trashy and definitely masculine term of "on the rag" is something I still don’t particularly care for.
