Reception desk at Motel Vanille on Huahine. This was our home on the island of Huahine for 3 days. We had a thatched-roof-style bungalow with a private bath & solar-heated hot water. The bungalow came equipped with a fan, which was woefully inadequate for nights in 90 deg F and 95% relative humidity; and mosquito netting, which was most useful. (We were told we were there during monsoon season — which you can see from the clouds in many of the photos — and that most of the year the climate is quite bearable.) This is high-end for Huahine, unless you want to pay 0+/night at a luxury resort. But while the accommodations may have been rustic, the food was gourmet cuisine of the first rank. And the hospitality couldn’t be beat.
