This is the Honeymoon Suite a.k.a. the flamingo room at the original ICEHOTEL in Jukkasjärvi Sweden for season 2011/12. Like the hotel itself, the whole room is constructed entirely out of snow and ice cut from frozen Trone river.

Every year, ice sculpture artists all over the world submit their original designs to the hotel and the winners are picked to come to the ICEHOTEL and create their designs. So every year the rooms inside the hotel are never the same.

I took this picture of the honeymoon suite when we arrived. Like all other rooms, there are no doors. The rooms during the day are accessible to all hotel guests and visitors. At night, they are only accessible to cold accommodation guests who stay there. The last day we stayed at the hotel, the door was installed for the honeymoon suite. I guess they want to provide privacy to the newlyweds at night. Ummm… in -5 c? Whatever floats your boat!
