Nope, Death Star… That’s not at all what I suggesting. Didn’t know what color the perps were, and really don’t care. Wouldn’t give a rat’s rear end if they were black, white, green, or yellow with fuscia polka dots. What ever color they may be, they are parasites… Blood sucking, resource using ticks that are a plague to society.
What I WAS suggesting was that in such a public place (meridian and glenview, I believe) that it was too bad a motorist couldn’t have come to Mr. Gibsons aid while he was being beaten, pepper sprayed, and robbed by this vermin. I ( or probably mr Gibson ) wouldn’t care what color the assistance giver was either.
This is not a racial thing… It’s a pest problem. And I never mentioned or implied anything about vigilantism.

Then you also didn’t read the article and were just "shooting" off your mouth since a description of the subjects, including their race, was part of the article. So in the end you are a vigilante wannabe – a GZ waiting in the wings for his 15 minutes for fame. Own it, don’t deny it.

SInce you are obviously trolling for a response, let me oblige you….
Definition of Vigilante – any person who takes the law into his or her own hands, as by avenging a crime.
Again…. I did not call for vigilanteism (avenging a crime), I merely said "it was too bad a motorist couldn’t have come to Mr. Gibson’s aid while he was being beaten, pepper sprayed, and robbed by this vermin." Vigilanteism implies I wanted these perpetrators hunted down after the fact and harmed, I have never said that at all. I am not a "vigilante wannabe", I assume by GZ you mean George Zimmerman. I have no ambitions to be like him at all. However, I would certainly come to the aid of a 90 year old man who was being beaten and robbed in is own driveway by two punks if the opportunity presented itself.
Obviously you see the world through a very racial prism and that affects your perception. I do not.
I have read the article. I don’t see where it mentions the race of the criminals, I couldn’t care less what race they are…trash is trash.

Couple of thoughts … What a brazen place to commit a robbery. It’s a shame a passing armed motorist wasn’t able to lend a hand and lead!
Second, it pains me to know that I have to share air with trash such as this. Some folks don’t deserve to be among the living.

A community fixture known to passing drivers as the man selling produce out of his Tallahassee home’s garage is said to be the victim of a Friday robbery.
“I am shocked and angered,” said City Commissioner Scott Maddox of the robbery of Lloyd “Hoot” Gibson, who runs a produce operation out of his home at the corner of Meridian Road and Glenview Drive. “And rest assured, the Tallahassee Police Department will do everything in its power to bring these people to justice.”
Police responded to the area of Meridian Road and Glenview Drive on Friday afternoon where Officer David Northway, spokesman for TPD, said one person was reported to have been robbed.
Maddox identified the victim as Gibson. While TPD said Gibson was not injured, Maddox said he was sprayed with pepper spray during the robbery and had been taken to the hospital.
Maddox’s interest in Gibson and his produce stand extends back 16 years, when in 1997, the city shut down his produce operation after complaints from neighbors. But city commissioners, led at the time by Maddox, unanimously approved a new law allowing him to continue selling produce from his home.
The yard, still filled with signs alerting passing drivers of “Tupelo Honey” and “Mayhaw Jelly,” with all invited to “Pull into Drive Way,” was full of police activity as investigators worked the crime scene Friday afternoon.
TPD spokesman, Officer Robert Grasso, said Friday that police are continuing to work, but no one is yet in custody.
“They are still pursuing leads and interviewing the witnesses,” he said.

— Let’s show support for Hoot Gibson
Re: “TPD investigating Friday robbery” (news article, Oct. 12).
Lloyd Gibson, who was the victim of an assault and robbery Friday, got his nickname “Hoot” from fellow soldiers while serving in the Korean War. The original Hoot Gibson was an old-time cowboy film star, and our Hoot is a North Florida county-western music legend. One month shy of 90 years old, Hoot still performs and has his own CDs for sale alongside the produce that he sells from his home at Glenview Drive and Meridian Road.
If you place 2¼ pounds of produce on the scale, he will say, “Let’s just call it 2 pounds then.” But if you tell him to keep the change, he will graciously accept, saying, “May the Lord bless you.”
Hoot still drives around our region buying tomatoes, squash, Georgia peaches, watermelon, tupelo honey, pecans and many other delicious fresh products. He has no plans to retire and was back to work the day after the robbery. Please rally around Hoot and help him stay in business for as long as he desires.
And to the cowards who used pepper spray on this elderly veteran, a generous and lively gentleman, then stole his hard-earned cash: Shame on you.

— Southerland flunks art of negotiating
Steve Southerland asserts that refusal by the Senate and the president to negotiate is setting a dangerous precedent for the country. Well, it may be time for Congressman Southerland to take a refresher course in both English and civics.
There are two types of negotiation. One type involves two parties with disparate points of view who sit down and hammer out a compromise that neither is particularly happy with but that results in moving forward. This is pretty much the way the nation had managed to advance over the past 230 years.
The other type of negotiation involves two parties, one of whom is, let’s say, a kidnapper or hostage taker, with whom there is little hope of successful compromise.
Which type of “negotiation” is currently favored by Southerland and his colleagues? Let’s just say that their strategy reminds me of nothing less than that commonly employed by Communist North Korea — first create a totally unnecessary “crisis” and then demand that “both sides” find a way out of it.
